Adire is a compelling Nigerian film available on Netflix that tells the story of a woman named Adire, who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and entrepreneurship after escaping a life of prostitution. Adire unexpectedly finds love and community, inspiring the women around her to embrace their dreams and overcome societal pressures.

Our initial vision for the title sequence was a 5-second homage to Adire, the film's captivating protagonist. Imagined as her signature catwalk, with tie and dye patterns as the backdrop revealing the title in a flourish. Inspired by the movie's teaser, this 2D concept while captivating, did not fully resonate with the heart of the film. Through insightful conversations with the film's writer, we gained a deeper understanding of the narrative's essence, leading to the birth of a new sequence. Our storyboard received instant approval and recognising the potential for a more impactful introduction, the sequence duration was extended to 45 seconds. Our title sequence echoes this sentiment, using the tie-dye motif as a unifying thread while exploring various themes woven into the narrative. Through the use of 3D models of female mannequins, we deliberately curated a visual journey, showcasing Adire's lingerie creations alongside symbolic artifacts that mirror the protagonist's evolution. We wove the film's themes into the narrative, using tie-dye as a leitmotif. 3D models of female mannequins adorned in lingerie designed by Adire herself gracefully pirouette on screen, symbolizing the various stages of her growth and the challenges she overcomes
“Adire” means “tie and dye”. A material designed with wax-resist methods that will produce patterned designs in a dazzling array of tints and hues.
